Introduction Non-Human Primate Monocytes

Many of the reagents generated for the analysis of the human immune system can be used for non-human primates (NHP) and this includes monoclonal antibodies to cell surface molecules of leukocytes. Monocyte subsets have been analyzed using human CD14, CD16 and DR antibodies in a variety of monkeys. Among the NHP studied are Rhesus macaques, Cynomolgus, Marmosets, African green monkeys, olive baboons, squirrel monkeys and pigtail macaques, with Rhesus macaques being most frequently used. Most CD14 and CD16 antibody clones cross-react with most of these NHP, but there are notable exceptions.
